The Minnesota Golden Gophers and North Dakota Fighting Sioux skated to
an interesting 4-4 tie at Mariucci Arena on Friday night. In the first
period, the Gophers seemed to be suffering leftover heebie-jeebies from
last weekend as they gave up three goals, getting outshot 20-4. The
Gophers picked up a goal in the second, but the Sioux extended their
lead to 4-1 early in the third period. Minnesota scored the next three,
tying the score with about four minutes to go. Both teams got good
opportunities in the last couple of minutes of regulation and the
overtime. Shots in the final two periods plus the OT were 38-13
Gophers, the final total being 42-33. Gopher goals were scored by
Jordan Leopold, Dylan Mills, Wyatt Smith, and Reggie Berg. Dave Spehar
had three assists. Having no box score at hand, I'm not entirely sure
of the UND scoring. Jason Blake scored one, I can't remember who got
the others. Same teams tomorrow night -- should be entertaining.
