WARNING: The following will probably be a LONG summary of last night's
Clarkson win over LSSU. So if you're sick and tired of this subject,
just push the delete key, I won't be offended. :-)

Now that you've been warned, here's the recap of the Chris Rogles Show.

Well I was close with what Clarkson had to do: limit the number of shots
(9 pp helped that), score on the pp (33%), not give up many ppg (1 of
6).

Clarkson changed up their lines for the night, moving Mark Green up to
Trombley and Belanger's line because he wasn't doing much at all. They
also played Kent Anderson, JR, his third game this year. I don't know
where he's been.

1st Period
If you saw the UMO-BU HE final, then you saw ref Frank Cole in this
game. He wound up calling 23 minors, 11 in the first period. In
the process he pissed off the LSSU fans. The game started with a
penalty at :28 to LSSU. Clarkson went on the pp and pepperred
Madely. He had to make several (6) stops, to keep Clarkson off the
score board. After the first penalty expired Clarkson got another
chance right away @ 3:09. However, they could never really mount
any sustained pressure. During the pp, Mike Casselman was speared
and sat out a couple of shifts and Mike Kozak was hit to the ice
from behind. This prompted a discussion between Clarkson Coach
Morris and Cole, LSSU's Jackson also had a few words for Cole.
(Remember Shawn Walsh with his new stick-tie.) During some 5-on-5
play Clarkson looked good, fore-checking and getting back on
defense. LSSU was held without a shot on goal until 10:32, but more
on that later. At 8:20 Jim Dowd went off for holding. With
Clarkson moving the puck on the pp, Breslin of LSSU broke out with
Napariel (forgive the spelling), 2-on-1, but Breslin's pass was
behind Napariel. The LSSU fans had wanted a penalty called on the
Clarkson defenseman and got one soon after on Napariel for slashing
at 9:22, setting Clarkson up with :58 of 5-on-3. Clarkson pressured
Madely but could not convert. With Dowd heading in to help defend,
Weight intercepted a pass and headed out with Dowd and only one
Clarkson defenseman. Weight got the puck to Dowd at the corner of
the net. Dowd just put it behind Rogles @ 10:32, a short handed
goal. LSSU finally got to go on the pp @ 11:53. Rogles had to make
two saves during the delayed call. LSSU was able to control the
puck in the Clarkson zone but never got any quality chances. They
kept the pressure on after the penalty was over but with no success.
At 15:12 Clarkson had their fifth pp. Now the LSSU players were
complaining to Cole about the calls he was making. As I was
listening on the radio I can not make any judgement as to the
validity of their complaints. At 15:57 Clarkson would get the
tieing goal. Tretowicz brought the puck into the LSSU zone and left
it for Trombley who was trailing the play. Trombley, on the left
side, passed the puck across the slot to Mikko Tavi whose shot
deflected off of a LSSU skate past Madely for the goal. Later in
the period Martin d'Orsonnens had his face mask come off of his
helmet as a result of getting hit with a LSSU stick. d'Orsonnens
left for the dressing room but returned before the end of the
period. Jim Dowd was also hooked down on a break-away. The hook
was not called but interference was on Sanderson, who was covering
the trailer. During the pp, LSSU wound up with 4 players in front
of the net jamming at the rebound of a Johnson shot. Weight was
able to get the puck out from under Rogles' glove. The free puck
drifted over to Dowd who put it in at 18:10.

2nd Period
Clarkson came out and was able to get an even strength goal early in
the period to tie the game up again. After a draw to the left of
Madely, Casselman went into the corner and dug the puck loose. He
passed the puck back to Tretowicz whose slap-shot was redirected by
Scott Thomas. The goal came at :41. LSSU came right back and tried
to go ahead again. But Clarkson breaks out and tests Madely. The
offensive pressure resulted in three penatlies being called, 2 to
LSSU (+ a 10 min misconduct on Harris) and one on Clarkson.
Clarkson went on the pp, 5-on-4. Hugo Belanger would get his 32nd
goal at 3:20. Belanger and M. Green were in front of the net
screening Madely, while Trombley and Heinrich were palying catch n
Madely's left point. Heinrich would finally get a clear shot/pass
in towards the net. Belanger turned around just in time to receive
the puck an put it over Madely's right shoulder. Now Clarkson had
their first lead, 3-2 and would never relinquish it. At 5:00 Madely
was called for roughing, but Clarkson would not be able to get a
goal, good contol, but no goal. Madely was really doing a good job
of keeping Clarkson off the score board during all of their pps. At
8:46 during yet another Clarkson pp, Tavi got an interference
penalty after he ran into Madely. Madely had to be attended to and
left the game for 42 sec. He was replaced by Brandon Reed who
stopped one shot. The play for the rest of the period would go back
and forth, up and down the ice. Both teams having good scoring
chances, both goalies playing real well and making good saves. With
less than a minute in the period, Clarkson's Casselman, Thomasand
Conroy would have a flurry of activity right in front of Madely
without getting a goal. However, a high sticking penalty on Weight
	would be called at 19:24.

3rd Period
Clarkson would get an eventually needed insurance goal during the
remainder of their pp. With Clarkson controlling the puck in the
LSSU from the initial face-off, Mark Green would score @ :24 when a shot
by Belanger (pt #75) changed direction twice off of skates before
reaching Green. Green also had the gwg in the second game against
Wisconsin. At 2:28 LSSU went on the power play. Now for the rest
of the game it was the Chris Rogles show as he would stop 19 of 20
shots (He probably would have stopped 199 of 200 shots.) During the
pp, Dowd would take at least 5 shots and be denied every time.
However, LSSU would still control the play afterwards. After Rogles
stopped several shots point blank, Dowd would score @ 6:35 for the
last goal of the game and his natural hat trick. For the rest of
the game it would be, LSSU n the Clarkson zone, a shot or two,
Clarkson finally coming out and keeping Madely awake in the other
net. Clarkson would kill a Dowd dominated pp @ 8:54. There were
many bodirs on the ice during the period but Cole swallowed his once
active whistle and only called two penalties, both on Clarkson.
Madley left his net with 1:16 remaining. LSSU would control the
puck for most of the time but get fewer chances than they had in the
previous five minutes. And Clarkson would win, 4-3 on some
outstanding goal tending in the third period by Chris Rogles.

After the game, the LSSU players patiently waited for the Clarkson
celebration to end before shaking hands.

However, the LSSU fans were not as sportsman-like. They litterred
the ice aroung the ref and linesmen with garbage, hiting a linesman
witha Coke can. Totally despicable and childish behavior. The
action of sorry-losers, no matter how the game was officiated.
There was no excuse. Hopefully Ken can enlighten us all when he
	gets back.

About Clarkson-BU, Clarkson beat BU at BU, 8-5 or something like that,
not 5-0. Clarkson dominated the first two periods, gave up three quick
goals early in the third and then clamped down on defense better. If
Clarkson gets goal tending like Fri and Sun night, they'll be National
Champs. The opposing teams will need to stay out of penalty trouble.
Clarkson has also shown a great ability to come from behind during this
tournament. So notice has been served.
