I apologize for not being able to get the Cornell assists. The
only reason I'm able to get the Yale scoring is that I know the lines
better. The PA system in the whale is so bad that from where I stand
(center ice) you can't hear a thing.

Skazyk played a great game. Half of his saves were spectacular,
and the other half was Yale making him look good. The Yale offense was
flying last night, but we just could not finish, and time and again it
cost us. About a dozen of Skazyk's saves came when he was flat on his side
and the Yale player, alone in front (pardon me) couldn't get it up. It was
frustrating to watch from my view because we took ourselves out of a lot
of good opportunities and when we didn't, Skazyk did. On the other side,
Sullivan did his share of head standing also. The first Cornell goal came
out of a scrum in front. The second came off a rebound from a shot in
close when Auger, unmolested, tapped it by the helpless Sullivan. The
second Cornell goal was truly heartbreaking because Yale had worked so
hard to tie it up. Emmons had eaten Mackey's point shot rebound to tie it
up on the power play three minutes before. Then Yale took a defensive
vacation for the next few shifts and it cost them the game.

With about thirty seconds left in the game and the Yale net empty,
a Cornell player got control in his own end and fired the puck down
towards the Yale goal. It became a race between the puck, a Yale player,
and Andre Doll. Both players dived and the Yalie just managed to tip away
the puck from Doll. Unfortunately Doll slid across the ice, hitting his
knee on the cage. He was on the ice for about five minutes before being
helped off to the dressing room.

Finally, the second intermission came with 3:22 left in the second
period, as the Yale rink crew had to come on to fill in a large and deep
gorge in the neutral zone.
