There seems to be some confusion as to how this years
NC$$ D-III tourney is going to be structured.
Here's some info:
1st round - March 12-13 at Campus sites
- 8 teams / 4 games
- 2 game series with the "mini game" tiebreaker
- AUTOMATIC qualifier for EAST - SUNY (Plattsburgh or Cortland)
- AUTOMATIC qualifier for WEST - MIAC (???????????)
- 3 "at large" seeds for the EAST
- 3 "at large" seeds for the WEST
- this is from the "official" NC$$ manuel
- there will NOT be a 5/3 split - there CAN'T BE.
- the FINAL FOUR will be played March 26-27
at Aldrich Arena, St. Paul Minn.

There is a week "off" in between the tournament -
I asked a coach who is on the committee and he explained that
the tournament final was postponed a week to avoid conflict
with the Minnesota High School Championships - or -
the WCHA finals ???? He was'nt sure. Nevertheless,
there is a week off before the NC$$ III championship.

The NC$$ DIV. III selection committee is:
Don Olson, St. Mary's (MN) chair
Eric Hoffberg, RIT
Stephen Kurth, U. of Wisc. Eau Clair
Tony Mariano, Norwich
Bob Peters, Bemidji
Gary Wright, AIC

This committee will also decide on the NC$$ D-II
final 2 - a new committeee was NOT established
to decide the D-II championship??????

As far as who might be in it from the EAST -
The committee will "weigh" the regular season
MORE than the playoffs - so look for a team
that was beaten last night in the ECAC's to
be back in for the NCAA's.

Hope this helps.
