I very much enjoyed the Woof FAQ; thanks to Erik for the laugh.

Okay, I was a HOCKEY-L member in the mid-90's and witnessed a lot of
use of the "ceramic dalmation" but never could pick up on its context.
 I imagine that searching the archives for "dalmation" would yield too
many hits, so would somebody dig deep in the cobwebs and tell The
Story of the Ceramic Dalmation?
