PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The top-ranked Boston College Eagles defeated the

Despite the fact that Providence had two breakaways in the first 1:30 of

when junior Ben Eaves fired home a rebound from the top of the crease.
The Eagles increased their lead to 4-0 after 40 minutes of action with two
goals in the second period. Junior Tony Voce gave BC a three-goal cushion
when he snapped a high shot past Schaefer at 6:13 of the second period.
Freshman Patrick Eaves tallied the final goal of the period when he
one-timed a shot from the top of crease at 12:09 of the second period.
Boston College tallied its fifth goal of the game at 13:09 of the third
period when Voce broke down the right side and tucked a shot past Schaefer.
The Friars scored their only goal of the game when freshman Torry Gajda
(Westfield, Mass.) backhanded a shot through a screen at the 16:15 mark of
the third period. Sophomore Ryan Murphy closed out the scoring with the
Eagles’ sixth goal with 59 seconds remaining in the game.
Schaefer made 33 saves for the Friars. Matti Kaltiainen registered 23
stops in the win for the Eagles.
The Friars return to action on Friday, November 15 versus New Hampshire at
the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. Opening faceoff is scheduled for
