Thanks for all that info, John, I hadn't seen it all in one place before for
last season.
 
On the 100+ PIM guys, Darcy Martini's 184 PIM is very close to the record and
I suspect his 5+ PIM/game is up there in history as well.
 
No one is a bi-centurion(?), but North Dakota's Jim Archibald had 197 PIM
in 1984-85 in 41 games.  He was also tenth in the WCHA in scoring with
37-24--61!  Note that Martini only played 34 games, 7 fewer than Archibald,
and he had only 13 fewer PIM.
 
The all-time record is held by OSU's Dan Mandich (1978-82).  He racked up
617 PIM in his career.  BTW, he was 13th in the CCHA in scoring in 1980-81
with 20-26--46 in 39 games, so these guys weren't devoid of scoring ability.
 
Is Martini within striking distance of 617?  As a senior, he could be close.
Any of our MTU people have the numbers on this?
 
The 5+ PIM/game could be a record, but it would be tough to find out since
many Ivy players could have far fewer total PIM in around 26 games.  And
a guy like Kevan Melrose could have averaged > 5 in his 15 or so games with
Harvard during his final 1/2-season.
 
Merrimack alumnus Howie Rosenblatt tied the Hockey East record with his 118
minutes last season.  That puts him even with the legendary Rico Rossi,
who did the same in 1986-87 for Northeastern.  Rossi, of course, shattered
the NU all-time record when he was only a sophomore in 1986-87 and is the
only HE player ever to have a line of men's shaving accessories named
