This was a typical RPI - Merrimack game. It was blue collar
all the way with the game being fought in the corners and along the
boards. Both teams showed sparks of brilliance. Both teams also had
spells of not being able to get out of their own way. RPI had Merrimack
on the ropes twice taking 4-2 and 5-3 leads, but Merrimack's first line
of Kris Porter, John Pyliotis and Rejean Stringer broke loose in the 3rd
period to score 3 times to tie the game at 5 after 3 periods.
RPI's Alain St. Hilaire had 1 goal and 2 assists, Matt Murley had
3 assists, Brad Tapper had 1 goal and 1 assist and Brian Pothier had 2
assists as RPI held on to beat Merrimack 6-5 in overtime.

RPI faces Minnesota-Duluth in the championship game Tuesday night at
8:30PM after Union faces Merrimack in the consolation game at 5:30PM.

Both games will be carried on WRPI (91.5FM) and live on the net at
http://www.wrpi.org

The last time RPI faced UMD was in the 1984-85 NCAA semi-finals
in Detroit; a game RPI won 6-5 in triple overtime as RPI went
on to win the national championship. That game was highlighted
by an interesting matchup with RPI's Adam Oates facing UMD's Brett Hull.
