Colorado College wins their 7th straight game tonight to continue their
longest winning streak this season, shutting out Michigan Tech 5-0. With 2
assists tonight, Brian Swanson ties again for the WCHA scoring title, this
year with Minnesota's Reggie Berg, each of them with 34 points in WCHA
games. Darren Clark finished right behind them with 33 points from 1 goal
and 2 assists.

All but one of CC's goals were on the power play. The Tigers were 4 of 9
on the power play, while the Huskies were 0 of 10. Almost as many
penalties called tonight as last night, but there weren't any
coincidentals called. Things got a bit confusing in the first period when
CC scored during a 4-on-3 power play, and then whoever was operating the
scoreboard took off both Tech penalties instead of one, so it looked like
Tech suddenly had a 5-on-4, instead of it being 4-on-4 like it was on the
ice.

After the Tigers scored one goal late in the first, and three goals in the
second period on David Weninger, younger brother Todd came in as relief
for the third period. Jason Cugnet earned his first shutout of the season.
The Tigers outshot the Huskies 36-16 tonight, and by at least a 2-1 margin
every period.

Now to wait the outcome of the Sunday-Monday series between Denver and
Minnesota-Duluth. I think, from looking at the standings, that if Denver
sweeps, CC will host the Pioneers in the first round of WCHA playoffs.
Otherwise Michigan Tech will be making another appearance. We'll just have
to see after Monday...
