The problem is that too many spectators "fans" forget they are watching kids
and while it is still stupid to be a boor at a pro game at least they are
getting paid to be abused.
My impression of that great institution in in Ithaca that changed its nickname
for a noble purpose is watching their fans throw rolled up newspapers at
future officers of the Army who would be putting their life on the line so
that these same numbskulls could enjoy their freedom. Respecting one's
opponent is part of sportsmanship- an antiquated concept. It is always
enjoyable to hear 2500 fans accusing your son of performing a pervers (to
some) sexual act. It sometimes seems the higher the tuition the more tasteless
(classless) the crowd. One can always be sure the loudest mouths belong to
those who could never dream of playing.
Hockey is a great game. Let us enjoy our team and cheer them and when the
other team makes a great play there is nothing wrong with appreciating their
play.
