Ironically, the "announcer" - also known as "Flash Boy" since he reads the
"Sports Flash" on WEEI every 20 minutes during The Big Show - is Sean
Grandy, one-half of the BC hockey radio team and former play-by-play man
for BU on WABU-TV68. He did the BC-Merrimack game that he was giving the
score of. Sean is a big proponent of college hockey and he will give
scores and details where others won't. In fact he left WEEI early both
Thursday and Friday to get to Merrimack for the games.

Along the same lines, WBZ-AM1030's version of "Flash Boy" on Saturdays and
Sundays is Dave Mager, who produced the Merrimack radio broadcasts this
season and with whom I worked along with Todd Jamison. Dave is also big on
college hockey and tries to get stuff in where he can on WBZ.

The point is, in both of these cases you have people who are big supporters
of the game, want to see it get more publicity and are doing what they can
within their own realm. That's a good thing.
