Thoughts on Northern Michigan University vs. Colorado College
Friday Night NMU 8
CC 8
Northern was LUCKY to come out of this game with a draw. The team
played very poor defense which combined with shaky goaltending by
Jr. Kruhlak created for a very high scoring game. Northerns
offense picked up where it left last year with a great deal of
strength.
The ref called an awful lot of penalties (had a thing for delay of
game) on both sides. This added to the frustration of the game for
both the players and the fans.
On a very positive note, the game began with the raising of the
NCAA Championship Banner! It sure looks good along side a couple
of WCHA and CCHA Championship banners.
Coach Comley looked rather disgusted with the performance of the
team as did most of the fans.
WILDCAT FRESHMAN SPOTLIGHT
I was very impressed with the "look" of No. 15, Bill MacGillivray,
a forward out of Surrey, B.C. . Bill played with the Chilliwack
Chiefs of British Columbia's Junior Hockey League where he was a
league all-star in 1990-91. During the 1990-91 season, Bill
registered 33 goals and 73 assists for 106 points. He spent 34
minutes in the penalty box during the 60 games played last season.
