The Town of Cumberland is seeking qualified applicants for the position of
Assistant Library Director.  Under the supervision of the Library Director,
the Assistant Director performs professional, administrative work involved
in the effective overall operation of Prince Memorial Library, provides
leadership and expert professional assistance to library staff and performs
other related work as required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising daily
functions of the library; supervising circulation staff; selection of
materials; and supporting Library Director in administrative functions,
working with the Friends of the Library organization as well as the Library
Advisory Board. The Assistant Library Director also acts as the Reference
Librarian and performs all the duties required by that position.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, an innovative spirit, a
curious nature, and a genuine interest in people and community. Excellent
leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential as is the
ability to foster a culture that strives for excellence and promotes
positive change. They should promote inclusion and strive to provide
equitable services to all.



   ALA accredited master’s degree in Library and Information Science

   Customer service experience in a public library setting

   Modern professional library principles, practices and procedures

   High level of comfort with computing, online databases, office
   productivity software and emergent technologies

   Experience building sustainable community relationships

   Experience working with a Library Advisory Board

   Experience with supervision of employees, budgeting, and Library
   strategic planning
