Saint Joseph's College of Maine seeks candidates for the Public Services Associate in the Wellehan Library.

The Public Services Associate provides research and educational technology assistance and instruction to library patrons by staffing the reference desk; students served are both on-campus and online who contact the library in-person as well as via email, phone, chat and text. Also provides customer service at the circulation desk as needed and oversees student workers staffing the circulation desk. Assists with interlibrary loan and technical services processes as well as special projects as needed.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree (in any field) or extensive library experience; Experience with and a positive attitude toward public service work; Previous experience in a library setting desired; Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate in both verbal and written (including email) formats with a diverse population; Proficiency with Microsoft Office, using online research databases, and internet searching; Knowledge of III/Sierra and Minerva/MaineCat systems desirable; Ability to tolerate work related stress effectively and maintain self-control/professionalism.

This is a part-time position (24 hours per week, year round); Sundays 4pm-9pm, Mondays-Thursdays 7pm-11pm (with one of these weekdays being 3pm-11pm for attending staff meetings.) Hours extend to midnight during finals.
