McArthur Public Library, located in Biddeford, Maine, is currently
accepting applications for a part-time Circulation Assistant for

least one Saturday monthly. Additional flexible hours may be available when
needed to cover extra busy times during programs, after holidays or staff
absences.

Biddeford is located just 20 minutes south of Portland and has become a
bustling hive of development activity in the last several years. Portland
Press Herald recently wrote "A renaissance here has drawn a flood of fresh
faces and businesses, making the municipality's median age plunge."

Come join our team during an exciting time in our community's history. As
Biddeford has continued to develop in a way that has drawn attention all
over Maine, our library continues to be a busy and vibrant hub in the
center of the downtown. The Circulation team is the vital front face of the
library.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding customer service skills, a great
sense of humor, be energetic and very detail-oriented, tech savvy and an
expert multi-tasker. Previous library experience is a big plus!

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Serving patrons via face to face interaction, computer, Internet, phone;

Using library software to register patrons for library cards, check in and
check out library materials, processing overdue notices and bills for lost
items, and collecting fines & fees;

Shelving returned materials in an accurate and timely nature as well as
regular shelf-reading;

Processing interlibrary loans, both outgoing and incoming deliveries
(running lists, retrieving the materials, checking them in, packing and
unpacking, and preparing items for pick up);

Cleaning/repairing library materials as needed and the processing of new
materials, preparing them for addition to the collection;

Answering and rerouting phone calls;

Participating in meetings and workshops to maintain and develop skills;

Performing opening and closing procedures.

The position requires physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift
and carry up to 35 lbs over 60% of the time. The ability to stand for long
periods of time performing tasks at a computer workstation is required.

The pay range for this position begins at $13.50/hour, depending on
experience.

Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled and interviews
will begin immediately.
