At our tiny library I started a monthly Lego Club at 6PM-7PM Wed. So It did
take some motivation on the part of the parent to juggle that. Our usual
turnout was 10-14 kids plus their adults. I'd usually suggest a simple
theme. Snacks started as brownies but evolved into chex mix in individual
containers. We'd build for 40 min. or so and then go around and share. For
a while I'd start with a short high interest story when it worked
especially well with theme. I have collection of small crates (size of a
shoebox) and kids could take one and get to work. Or come back and shop for
more! It was easy, fun and the kids really seemed to enjoy the free play
aspect. We are still not having indoor events, so on hiatus for now, but
I'm really looking forward to resuming in the future. Checking online about
how other libraries managed gave me lots of ideas.
Best,
Janet
