Hi, everyone!
The Penobscot River Educational Partnership (PREP) will be hosting a Collection Development Workshop for school librarians at the UTC in Bangor on Thursday, January 16 from 8:30-2:30.
The intended audience: any and all elementary (K-8) library ed techs, volunteers, new library media specialists, and others wanting a refresher in collection development. Participants in this day-long workshop will learn how to obtain, organize, catalog, maintain and weed materials in their elementary school libraries. We will include advocacy and budgeting. Designed for the non-professionals and those new to the profession, this content will help you make your collection look professional! Basic principles covered will apply to both automated and non-automated library collections.
If your school is part of the PREP collaborative, all expenses will be paid by your district. All PREP curriculum coordinators recently received information about this, so you may already be aware of this opportunity.
If your district is not part of PREP, the only fee will be $10 for your lunch. Not sure? Check with your principal or curriculum coordinator.
Please contact me (reply off-list) to save your spot at this workshop. Then we’ll work on getting you released for the day!
Don’t think your administrators will give you release time? Send their name & phone # to me and I’ll help convince them that this will be a day well spent to help you make the best use of your resources and limited budgets!
Pass the word! Almost forgot to mention that I will be your presenter for this event!
