Hello Maine library colleagues! Please share this with all of your social
worker friends. I know most library folks have at least 32 social worker
friends -- send this to them all!
The Bangor Public Library seeks a full-time social worker for a fixed
period of 24 months. The position is available immediately and start-date
is negotiable. The nationwide, statewide housing crisis and opioid use
crisis have had a disproportionate impact on Bangor, a service-center city.
We have seemed to be the de-facto day shelter in Bangor. We want our
response to be supportive, deliberate, evidence-based, and focused on the
needs of the community. This fixed-length position will also help prepare
this library to respond to community needs for years to come.
The Social Worker will respond to urgent needs on-site, will coordinate
between the library and relevant social services agencies, will help to
guide staff training, and will support the well-being of staff. The person
in this position will not be providing mental health treatment to library
staff or library users.
This 24-month position will be compensated within a pay rank that ranges
from $46,176 to $61,873.50. A full description of duties, qualifications,
and compensation is provided in the job description posted on the library’s
website at https://www.bangorpubliclibrary.org/employment
To apply, please send a resume, cover letter, and two professional
references to Tina Hustus, Business Manager ([log in to unmask]).
Review of applications will begin soon and will continue until a sufficient
applicant pool is established.
Best wishes,
Ben
