Lily King is this year’s recommending author. She recommended the following titles for this summer’s statewide read:

Fiction: Vigilance of Stars by Patricia King

Nonfiction: Roughhouse Friday by Jaed Coffin

 
We’ll be mailing books via USPS Media Mail. The first batch is going out this week. 
Posters/flyers and social media publicity items will be available digitally. This “toolkit” is currently in its creation phase and will be sent to participating libraries when it’s ready to roll.
We will NOT be printing and mailing bookmarks this year. 
 
We will use the week of July 13 as our kick-off. This enables more of you to register, us to get books out to you, you to process those books, and all of us to publicize the project/books.
Maine Calling will host all three authors (99% sure) on Friday, July 17 at their usual 1pm timeslot. They’ll highlight Read ME, and use Lily’s two recommendations as the start of their annual summer book recommendation program. 
 
MSL/MHC will host a ZOOM event with Jaed Coffin and another with Patricia O’Donnell at some point this summer. We’ll announce those dates as they’re firmed up. Most likely, they’ll both be in August.
MSL/MHC will host at least one Zoom facilitated book discussion, which will be open to anyone who has read the book. We’ll come up with a plan for registering folks and let you all know. If you know that your readers have interest in this, let me know – it’s possible we will offer a few of these to accommodate interest and schedules. 
 

MSL/MHC have purchased bulk from the publishers and are able to pass down that price to our participating libraries. If you want to register/order books, head over to this form: https://mainehumanities.org/programs/read-me/
