The Maine State Library is pleased to announce the first round of grant funding from the Maine Public Library Fund!



Background:

Maine citizens donate to the Maine Public Library Fund via the Schedule CP which is used for voluntary charitable contributions on Maine tax returns. The fund is administered by the State Librarian.

This new grant program will provide grants to public libraries to encourage and support innovation in the creation and expansion of new library services and to support library staff professional development.

 Applications are now being accepted for the first round of grants. The deadline is October 31, 2016.



The second round of grants will be in Spring 2017.  That application period will open on February 1, 2017 and close February 28, 2017.

This year, each grant cycle will award 20 grants totaling $20,500.

1 grant of $5,000

1 grant of $2,500

8 grants of $1000

10 grants of $500



We are very excited to begin this grant program!  We hope that the influx of funds at the local level will spur additional giving and allow this grant program to grow and flourish.
