last night, the city council agreed to kick in some bucks
$1.9M in 1994 another $4M through '97.  Arena/civic center costs now
estimated at $54.1M to $68.6M depending on what's built.
Backers have about $35M in private contributions.  The biggest pieces
are:
        $15M from the el pomar foundation
        $5M from the broadmoor hotel
        $2M (a guess on my part) from gates land co (value of land)
 
The vote by council was 6-3, and hinges on....
         details of how the city and the broadmoor hotel arrange to
         operate the facility
 
         convincing the city it won't lose any money
 
         the county anteing up $3M
the 1.95M comes from (you'll love this)
        565K sales tax money for public improvements
        500K parking receipts
        350K donated labor city utilities
        350K city's share of state gas tax money
        186K city tax on hotels and car rentals
