My last words (for now, anyway!) on the ECAC stuff. Actually, Mike Machnik's
comments were right on the money. Keep in mind that ECAC/small college does
not have a commissioner...or much organization. Wouldn't be unfair to
characterize it as a loose confederation rather than a tightly knit conference
(such as the WCHA or CCHA). However, it allows a large number of schools which
do not (or cannot) play big-time hockey to compete in a conference-like format.
Not a bad deal...very "collegiate," actually.
And, just to set the record straight: Canisius College is an NCAA Division I
institution, affiliated with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. All of
its varsity sports play a full Div. I schedule except hockey (as noted over the
past two days) and football (but that's another story for another list).
