PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College hockey's junior forward Marc
Suderman (Regina, Saskatchewan) was named the Hockey East Koho Co-Player of
the Week on Monday, March 12. Suderman, who earned the honor for the first
time, shared the award with University of Maine forward Niko Dimitrakos.
Suderman notched his seventh goal of the season at 96:26, advancing the
11th-ranked Friars (21-11-5 overall) over Boston University (14-20-3) and
into the semifinal round of the Hockey East Championship. Suderman
redirected a Devin Rask shot past the Terriers Sean Fields, who made a
career-high 48 saves but couldn't stop the final shot. On Friday, March 9,
Suderman recorded three assists in the Friars' 6-3 victory.
Suderman has totalled seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points this season
and his goal Sunday night ended the longest game in Hockey East tournament
history and was the eighth longest game in NCAA history.
The third-seeded Friars face the second-seeded Maine Blackbears on Friday,
March 16 at 8 p.m. at the FleetCenter in Boston, Mass. The winner will
advance to the championship game against the winner of Friday night's
Boston College/UMass-Lowell game at 5:00 p.m.
