SCSU Hires New Assistant Men's Ice Hockey Coach

St. Cloud, Minn. St. Cloud State University Director of Athletics Dr.
Morris Kurtz has announced the appointment of Bradley Willner as an
assistant men's ice hockey coach for the Huskies. He will serve as an
assistant under the leadership of 14th year head coach Craig Dahl.
Willner comes to St. Cloud State from Providence College, where he had
served as that school's assistant men's ice hockey coach since 1996. At
Providence, Willner's duties included on and off ice instruction,
recruiting, video breakdown, travel coordinator, community service
coordinator and academics coordinator.
In addition to this work at Providence College, Willner served as an
instructor in the Providence College Hockey School (1997-00) and as an
instructor with the New England College Development Skills Clinics
(1998-00). Willner also served as a coach for the USA Hockey New England
Select 15 team in 1999-00 and the USA Hockey New England Select 14-15
Regional Camp from 1998 to 2000.
Willner attended Richfield High School (Minn.) and later graduated from
Lake Superior State University in 1995. He was the member of two NCAA
Division I championship teams at Lake Superior State in 1992 and 1994, and
was on LSSU's national runner-up team in 1993. LSSU won three consecutive
conference titles during Willner's collegiate career, and he was named a
Verizon Academic All-American in 1995. Willner played junior hockey for the
St. Paul Vulcans of the USHL and helped that club win a national junior
championship in 1991.
A fourth round draft choice by the New Jersey Devils in 1991, Willner
played professional hockey with the Albany Ice Rats (AHL) and the Raleigh
Ice Cap (ECHL) from 1995 to 1996.
The Huskies will open their 2000-01 season on Oct. 13, with a 7:05 p.m.
home game against Ferris State. In 1999-2000, the Huskies posted a 23-14-3
overall record (16-9-3 WCHA) and advanced to the NCAA Division I playoffs.
