There is a report in today's NCAA News of the meeting of the
NCAA Men's Hockey Committee.  It is online at

The three major items reported:
 
(1)  The committee "hopes" that bracket expansion will be
possible soon, given the fact that there will be 60 Division
I teams by 2001-02.
 
(2)  The committee "Denied a request from the MAAC for a
waiver of the 2-year waiting period for automatic
qualification to the championship.  The MAAC is eligible for
automatic qualification to the championship effective
2000-01."
 
(3)  The committee voted to implement a minimum seating
capacity of 15,000 for Frozen Four sites beginning with the
2004 championship.
 
On a related note:  does anybody know if the regional sites
for 2001 have been selected?  It seems like they are very
late with that decision.
