I think Joe is right - starting with a four team championship field
would probably be a good idea. Give it the new teams and leagues a
few years to get settled before adding a quarterfinal round,
presumably at campus sites.
 
With four teams is it really necessary to label the seeds?
(as in 2 E - 2W or 1 W - 3E)? Why not just pick the four best
teams? Although presumably there would be at least a couple of
autobids.
