Tickets for Frozen Four: Get 'em while they're hot
By Mike Szostak, Journal Sports Writer

PROVIDENCE -- If you expect to watch the NCAA Frozen Four next April at
the Providence Civic Center, obtain a ticket application soon.

Like this week.

"We expect to be sold out by the end of the month," John Marinatto,
director of athletics at Providence College, said yesterday. PC is the
host of the 2000 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championships next April 6-8.

Only about 3,200 tickets will be available to local fans. The public
allotment is 7,200, but Marinatto said fans in Anaheim for the 1999
Frozen Four submitted applications for about 4,000 tickets. The
remaining 5,000 seats are being reserved for fans of the four
participating schools, officials and media.

Marinatto urged Rhode Island fans "to get your application in ASAP."

Applications are available at the Providence College ticket office in
Alumni Hall or the Civic Center box office. Fans can also call the PC
ticket office at (401) 865-4672 and request an application.

PC will fill all ticket orders by mail.

PC hosted the NCAA Ice Hockey Championships in 1986 and 1995. The
school hosted the first NCAA East Regional in 1992. The Civic Center
has been the site of five NCAA Ice Hockey Championships.

Governor Almond said during a brief ceremony on the Civic Center ice
yesterday that the 1995 event generated $10 million for the local
economy.

Mayor Cianci, who was also on hand yesterday, joined Almond in filing
ticket applications and both received commemorative jerseys with the
2000 Frozen Four logo on the front and their names on the back. Each
jersey featured the numeral 1.

P.S. Providence College has established a limit of four (4) series
tickets per application.
