It was definitely an exciting game to watch. CC outshot North Dakota
36-28, but still ended up on the short end of a 5-4 score tonight at the
World Arena.

CC came out flying in the first period, scoring only 54 seconds into the
game on a goal by Dan Peters. The Tigers were everywhere on the ice for
most of the period, killing off two penalties, but the Sioux finally tied
things up on a goal by Jeff Ulmer with 3 minutes left.

The Tigers got an early power play opportunity in the second period, and
Scott Swanson put in his sixth of the year to regain the lead 2 minutes
in. 21 seconds later, freshman Shaun Winkler (whom several people in the
pressbox have been calling 'the Fonz' :) ) got his first career goal, and
CC had a 3-1 lead. North Dakota cut the lead in half on a power play of
their own midway through the period, with a goal from Trevor Hammer, but
the Tigers regained their 2-goal lead 5 minutes later thanks to Ian
Petersen, and finished the period up 4-2 and looking pretty good.

The game took a turn for the worse for CC in the third period with less
than 6 minutes left, as freshman defenseman Aaron Schneekloth scored 2
goals in 32 seconds to tie the game, the second one being 4-on-4. Adam
Calder scored the game winning goal a minute later. The Tigers weren't
able to come back, even on the power play. Goalie Jeff Sanger was pulled
with 45 seconds left, but CC wasn't able to get the puck past Sioux
netminder Andy Kollar.

Same two teams battle again tomorrow night.
