BGSU beat LSSU 8-4, taking the best of three series in two games. This is the second year BG has gone on the road as the 5th seed to beat the 4th seed. Last year BG took two out of three from WMU in the quarter finals of the CCHA playoffs.

Well according to Keith Instone of Hockey-L from comments made on my list E-Ticket, the last time LSSU lost in the first round of the CCHA playoffs was 1987, losing twice to OSU in games 3, and 4. The lost to BG four times that year. (Tonight marks loss number 5 this season) Thanks also to Keith, apparently the last time LSSU lost a play-off game at home was the NCAA's back in 1991 against Clarkson. LSSU has not failed to get to the NCAA tourney since 1987 pending this year.

Bob Petrie ends his CCHA career against LSSU with only one loss, a fact for which he has been dubbed a "Laker Killer" by people in BG.

It would look as though BG will play Michigan at the Joe next week.

I am, as always,

Nathan W.L. Boyle
