Cornell men's ice hockey left the Golden Knights in the dust in tonight's
semifinal ECAC tournament game at the Olympic complex in Lake Placid,
blanking Clarkson 3-0 to move on to tomorrow afternoon's final round
against the Harvard Crimson.

Jamie Papp scored first for the Red, followed by goals from Mike Sancimino
and Geoff Lopatka (just his third of the year). Lopatka's tally was scored
shorthanded on one of Clarkson's seven power play opportunities. The
Knights went 0 for 7 on man-up situations, while Cornell went 1 for 3.

Sophomore Jason Elliott recorded his second-ever shutout, against the
Golden Knights. Clarkson's Dan Murphy had 20 saves as Jason Elliott posted
27. (Murphy stepped out for a brief period of six-on-five offensive play
early in the third but was in the net for the end of the game.) Elliott's
first shutout was against RPI at Lynah earlier this season. Clarkson drops
to 24-8-3 as the Red improves to 20-8-4.

Tomorrow afternoon at 1, Clarkson and first-seeded Vermont will play for
third place. Harvard and Cornell face off for the ECAC championship title
at 4 pm. The game will be on Time Warner Cable here in Ithaca on channel 52
and on the radio at 103.7 the Wave. Prime Sports Network is carrying the
game nationwide on satellite and on many cable systems.

Harvard stunned the ECAC regular season champion Catamounts 4-3 earlier
today. This will be the first time since the 1980 season that two Ivy teams
met for the title game. (Cornell played Dartmouth that year.)

LET'S GO RED!
