After clinging to a one goal lead Saturday night in St. Cloud, the Gophers
shut down the Huskies Sunday night at Mariucci and won 5 - 2. Lietza was
peppered with 32 shots on goal many of them on breakaways and point blank
shots from the slot.

The Gophers looked good all 3 periods Sunday night, passing the puck well
and setting up in the Huskie zone nicely. On the power play, the gophs
went 3 for 5, also scored a short hander only to be answered by SCSU on
the next rush. This year the gophs are playing much more offensively on
the power play and it's paid off with more sh goals.

Steve De Bus looked good again last night. I take back all the bad things
I said about him. He was very solid and made some big saves. One comes to
mind, on a clean breakaway in the 3rd, De Bus stonewalled the SCSU
attacker. It was a good thing too, since Bonin and Kraft had multiple
clean break aways and failed to score each time.

Next up, Sinuhe Wallinheimo and the DU Pioneers. Can't wait to see Wally!
