Yow! The RPICH I posted on Sunday was incorrect, due to two errors in my
scores file: I transposed the Denver-UAF score on 1/28, and omitted the
1/29 MSU-OSU score. The corrected version has small, but interesting
changes. Note that BU nudged Michigan from the #1 spot (actually, a virtual
dead heat), due to an increase in strength of schedule. This, if nothing
else, is a powerful example of how significant non-conference games are to a
rating system like RPICH.

Rating Percentage Index for College Hockey, compiled by Erik Biever
This report includes the 487 games through 01/29/94 between teams eligible
for the Division 1 tournament. Maine's wins over Providence are excluded
pending resolution of the status of those games.

RPICH is calculated by the Rating Percentage Index method, used as a tool
in selecting teams for the national collegiate tournaments in basketball,
baseball, and hockey. Ratings are derived by summing each team's winning
percentage, the average winning percentage of its opponents, and the average
winning percentage of its opponents' opponents, multiplied by 20%, 40%, and
40% respectively. Factors such as home ice and margin of victory are not
included. No individual game is weighted more heavily than any other.
