Thanks, Matt...it was interesting to read.

It's true...the DivI composite in the archives from 86-87 shows that
Arizona played four games against DivI Indeps that year: losing 9-2 at
Alaska-Anchorage and 11-1 at Alaska-Fairbanks, and hosting and
splitting with UAA, 10-6 UAA and 7-4 Arizona.

Yes...Arizona played 10 more games against NC$$ DivI Indeps in 1987-88.
I don't have scores from the four games they played vs US
International (anyone who has a copy of the last USIU press guide or
who knows where to get it, please email me). Here are the others:

1/8/88 Arizona 5 at Notre Dame 9
1/9/88 Arizona 0 at Notre Dame 10
2/12/88 Arizona 7 at Kent 5
2/13/88 Arizona 4 at Kent 8
2/19/88 UAF 8 at Arizona 4
2/20/88 UAF 13 at Arizona 7

And, from 1988-89:
1/13/89 Notre Dame 10 at Arizona 5
1/14/89 Notre Dame 9 at Arizona 2
2/17/89 St Cloud 8 at Arizona 2
2/18/89 St Cloud 13 at Arizona 2

All of these games were exhibitions for the DivI teams since Arizona
was a club team.

That was really it. Arizona did play Michigan-Dearborn (not NC$$)
twice in 1989-90, but they got smoked 9-1 and 13-0. Around this time,
the DivI Independents started moving into conferences - and also, they
improved their level of play since the lure of a berth in the DivI tourney
helped them recruit better players.

The NC$$ Men's Ice Hockey Committee doesn't often receive accolades,
but I think that putting in the Independent bid (and then removing it
when it was no longer needed) was one of the best things they've done
for the game of college hockey.
