I started the St. Cloud hockey television broadcasts because of this very
thing.  I got real sick of hearing about how great the U of M was and how
bad we were, not only on but off the ice as well.  I the state the U gets
more than the best players in the state.  They also get better treatment
from the state with money and other "educational" resources.
 
At least in television (my major and future career) we beat the gophers.  I
sat through an internship and a couple of years of "freelance" work at
Midwest Sports Channel (the regional gopher . .  I mean sports network)
with a student from the U.  All he could talk about was how good they were
and how bad we were.
 
Needless to say I was beside myself when we took three out of four points
from the gophers to start the year.  My mission in life  (or at least
college) had been settled.  Now what?  :-)
