Well, it certainly appears that the arena had more pull than the nearby bars and restaurants. 
What could have been a nice event for the city is now a nice event for the arena only.  Maybe a
few bars might benefit from the after-the-second-semi crowd. Sounds like something only the owners
of the Boston Garden could come up with (they're owned by concessionaires).

I'm guessing that the arena doesn't let you bring in any food.
