WHO'S HOT..... Devin Rask has tallied at least one point in 14 of the
Friars' last 19 games and has recorded a 5-7- 12 line in his last eight
games....

OMICIOLI NETS TWO GAME WINNERS... Junior Drew Omicioli (West Warwick, R.I.)
recorded three goals (two game winners) in the Friars' weekend sweep of
UMass-Lowell on February 22-23.  On February 22, Omicioli notched two goals
in the squad's 4-3 win over UMass-Lowell at Tsongas Arena.  Omicioli's
first tally was his team-leading, fourth short-handed goal while his second
tally was the game-winning goal.  On February 23, Omicioli recorded his
second-consecutive game-winning goal in PC's 2-1 win versus UMass-Lowell at
Schneider Arena.  This season, Omicioli has recorded 11 goals and 13
assists in 24 games.

BALLARD RECORDS SEVENTH WIN... Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) stopped
32 shots in the Friars' 2-1 win over UMass-Lowell on February 23.  The
senior netminder has recorded a 7-3-3 record with a 2.68 goals against
average and a .912 save percentage.  Ballard is currently tied for third
all-time at Providence in games played by a goaltender with 95 and is
ranked fifth all-time in career saves with 2,460.

FRIARS SWEEP UMASS-LOWELL...On February 22, the Friars defeated
UMass-Lowell, 4-3, at Tsongas Arena.  The victory vaulted the Friars into
sole possession of second-place in HOCKEY EAST and more importantly
clinched home-ice for the 2001 HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinals.  Junior Drew
Omicioli (West Wrwick, R.I.)tallied two goals in the victory.  Adam Lee
(Brampton, Ont.) added one goal for PC, while Devin Rask (Parside,
Saskacthewan) recorded his 42nd point.  Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass,
Saskatchewan) stopped 24 shots in the victory.  The Friars will host a
Quarterfinal series for the first time since the 1998-99 season when they
defeated Boston University.  On February 23, the Friars completed the
weekend sweep of the River Hawks with a 2-1 victory at Schneider
Arena.  Omicioli and Peter Fregoe (Massena, N.Y.) tallied a goal each for
the Friars.  Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) stopped 32 shots in the
victory.

RASK LEADS THE OFFENSE... Sophomore Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan)
tallied his team-leading 44th point (18 goals, 26 assists) in the Friars'
2-1 win over UMass-Lowell on February 23.  The centerman recorded two
assists in the victory.  On February 22, Rask tallied one goal and one
assist in the Friars' 4-3 win over Umass-Lowell at Tsongas Arena.  This
season, the Friars are 17-3-2 when Rask tallies at least one point and are
2-5-3 in the games he has been held pointless.

11 GAMES OVER .500...The Friars' 2-1 win over UMass-Lowell on February 23
improved the squad's record to 19-8-5.  It marked the first time since the
1990-91 season the Friars have been 11 games over .500.

HOCKEY EAST WINS...The Friars recorded their 13th HOCKEY EAST victory on
February 23 versus UMass-Lowell (2-1).  It marked the most  HOCKEY EAST
wins for a Providence College team since the 1988-89 squad posted a 13-11-2
mark.  This season, the Friars have defeated every league opponent at least
once, for the first time since the 1990-91 season.  The most HOCKEY EAST
victories ever by a Providence College team is 15, acheived by the 1984-85
team that finished 15-14-5 in league play.

Next FOR the FRIARS... The Friars will travel to the University of Maine on
March 2-3.

THE PROVIDENCE/MAINE SERIES... Friday's game will be the 73rd meeting
between the two schools.  Maine leads the all-time series 43-27-2.  The two
teams first met on January 5, 1980 with Providence defeating Maine, 4-3, at
Alfond Arena.  PC's last win over Maine was a 5-3 victory on November 3,
2000 at Schneider Arena.  The Friars' last loss to Maine was a 5-4 overtime
defeat on March 10, 2000 in the HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinals.

AT ALFOND ARENA...The friars have posted a 9-28-1 record against Maine at
Alfond Arena.  PC's last loss at Alfond Arena was 5-4 overtime defeat on
March 10, 2000 in the HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinals.  PC's last win against the
Black Bears at Alfond was an 8-6 victory on March 24, 1989 in the NCAA
Quarterfinals.  The Friars last regular-season victory at Alfond Arena was
a 4-2 win on November 8, 1986.

THIS SEASON VERSUS MAINE... On November 3, the Friars defeated the
University of Maine, 5-3, at Schneider Arena.  It marked the first time
that PC has defeated the Black Bears since November 6, 1997. Nolan Schaefer
recorded 39 saves for his second win of the season and his first ever over
Maine.  Doug Wright and Adam Lee tallied a goal each for the Friars while
Devin Rask tallied hat trick.
