D2 and D3 schools are allowed to designate one men and one women's sport as D1
(aside from football or basketball). Colorado College has been doing this for
years with men's ice hockey and women's soccer. I'm not aware of any other
schools doing this for other sports as hockey is the only sport with a large
number of non-D1 schools competing at the D1 level.

BTW, Tony: thinking about hockey when it's warm isn't very hard. Thinking about
ice fishing when the temps have been in the 50s is hard (guess I'll have to get
the boat out again next week).
