Summary:

RPI brought Union back to earth with a 5-1 win that evened their ECAC
Quarterfinal series at 1-1 and snapped the Dutchmen's 10 game unbeaten
streak. The Engineers thoroughly dominated most of this one as the
Dutchmen really never got much going.

RPI jumped out to a 1-0 lead before half of the people in the crowd
had found their seats. Union escaped the 1st down just 1-0, but that
luck didn't carry over into the 2nd. RPI beat the Dutchmen to every
puck, and when finally did get some scoring chances, Neil Little made
the stops. The Engineers had a 4-0 lead on Union by the end of the
period. The Dutchmen finally got on the board late in the 3rd, but by
then the game had been decided.

Luigi Villa started in goal for Union, continuing the rotation that
had worked so well over the last month or so. Villa didn't play a bad
game - but he got very little help from his defense. Little looked
much better in net for RPI. He wasn't asked to make all that many big
saves, but he did so when he needed to. Mike Gallant will most likely
be back in net for Union tonight.

Union's record now stands at 15-10-4 on the season. Tonight's game at
7 PM will decide the series. The Dutchmen will need a huge effort
tonight if they want to earn the trip to Lake Placid. It would be
great if they can pull it off and extend the season for another week,
but RPI looked so much better last night. Both teams will be have to
be very tired tonight. Union has not played 3 games in a week all
season, let alone 3 games in 3 nights.
