Ditto to all that Kristi has said. She hit it out of the ball park in describing what Sally has meant to our profession. At least we'll be keeping Sally on the Maine Readers' Choice Award committee so she'll be in touch with all of us. And, hopefully she'll still join us for Librarian Libations.

What a huge loss for McArthur staff and patrons, Maine library colleagues and the future of libraries! Sally deserves a wonderful retirement, but boy will she be missed!
Sally has been a stellar example to me over the years and I will miss seeing her at professional workshops, meetings, and at her excellent library programs. Sally has a wealth of ideas, enthusiasm to
carry them out and a great attitude to go along with it all.
BEST WISHES and CONGRATULAIONS Sally!! I know whatever you do you will do it with a smile:) We will definitely miss you!!!
Kristi
P.S. Jeff, you have my sympathy!

Subject: [MELIBS-L] Congrats on an upcoming retirement
Hi everyone,
Please join me in congratulating McArthur Library's Assistant
Director, Sally Leahey, who has announced her retirement for mid-June
2014. We really feel like we are losing a legend in Sally, for
McArthur Library, for the Biddeford community and certainly for the
wider Maine library community. We are very excited for her though as
she embarks on a new chapter!
Sally has been at McArthur Library for 15 years, and has seen and been
an intrinsic catalyst for so many positive changes over that time and
she has filled many roles from YA Librarian to Interim Director to
HVAC guru to Head of Adult Services/Assistant Director as she does
now. Personally speaking, I have relied on Sally's extensive
experience and knowledge and I want to thank her. She has been so
helpful and welcoming to me as I joined the Maine library community
and got my feet under the desk at McArthur.
We have valued and will dearly miss so many of Sally's
characteristics, from her commitment and passion for library services,
her even temper and amazing sense of humor, her incredible talents as
a reference librarian, collection developer, and event
planner/programmer extraordinaire! We are glad she will still be
nearby and she promises to visit often!
Feel free to send your congratulations/well wishes to Sally at
