I'll put in a plug for Demco's book cleaner, which can clean/de-stickify even the most befouled book covers: https://www.demco.com/demco-reg-book-cleaner. It is probably not as non-toxic as the coconut oil + baking soda, but it doesn't stink.

Good morning,
For stubborn sticky spots it's nice to have a little jar of coconut oil + baking soda around to try first. It's non-toxic and works surprisingly well. No stinky, harsh chemicals!
