Good morning Maine library community -
I wanted to share with all of you that I have accepted an opportunity in Tennessee as the TN State Librarian and Archivist! I have family in TN and my wife and I, along with family, have been discussing a move to TN at some point in our future. When the former TN State Librarian announced his retirement, I applied for the job and just recently accepted the offer.
While I'm excited for this opportunity, I will miss dearly the Maine library community, and will certainly miss the MSL staff and the many colleagues throughout the State of Maine. We have done wonderful things together, and there is no doubt that more great things are in store for Maine and Maine's libraries. We have a terrific team at the Maine State Library and they will continue to provide the leadership needed to "Help people, Make Maine Libraries Stronger, and Transform Information Into Knowledge."
I start my new role in the late part of July, and before then, I'll be back in touch through MELIBS to all of you. The Maine Library Commission will be putting in place a search for the State Librarian position, and you'll certainly see communication about that in the weeks to come.
Thank you all for the opportunity to be part of a wonderful journey. I'll not forget the many things we have been through and done together.
-Jamie
