Good afternoon,

Today I said a final goodbye to my last group of students on their final day of 'school'. I don't even want to count how many youngsters have crossed my classroom and library doors in the past 40 years. I've seen a lot of changes, and a lot that has stayed the same but is simply marketed under a new name (my only regret is that I wasn't among those clever enough to make $ off each "new" thing!). Fortunately, two of the things that have stayed the same are the love of the written word and the dedicated librarians who get the right book into the right hands at the right time!

Next week I'll be 'transitioning' with my replacement, Michelle Reesman. She has been a teacher here at Old Town Elementary School for 8 years, is working on her MLS, recently became a member of the Chickadee Committee, and is all ready to jump in with all of her great ideas, enthusiasm, and energy. Please join me in congratulating her: [log in to unmask]

Also, one of my Ed Techs, Erin Murphy, will also be moving on! She's taking off her training wheels and ready to tackle the Asa Adam's Elementary School Library with all of her love of all-thing-library and her creative ideas! Please encourage her as well. I don't know her new email yet, but she'll still get ours for a while: [log in to unmask]

I hope you will take a quick moment to welcome them both into the Wonderful World of Maine Libraries that I have been fortunate to have been part of. I think they will both be well-recognized names in the years to come!

I can't thank you all enough for the support and encouragement during the tough times, and celebrating with me during the successes over the years. It really has gone quickly. I choke a little bit every time I say '40 years' - I don't FEEL that old!!.

Best wishes to all of you with the incredible, unexpected challenges ahead.
Thank you all again,
Lynn
