POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

DATE: June 21, 2013

POSITION TITLE:  Director of Learning Commons (Full-time 12 months)

SALARY: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System and the MEA Administrative Unit.  Level IV (Starting range $43,551.19 to $55,169.33)

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in the fields of Psychology, Counseling, Education, Library & Information Studies or a related field. Experiences should include a variety of direct student support services in a post secondary setting that includes an understanding of the Community College mission and the academic needs of a diverse population. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; background in effective learning strategies; knowledge of the ADA and implementation of accommodations in a college setting; ability to work well within a team; ability to organize and prioritize; database skills; and working knowledge of word processing skills are necessary as well as supervisory experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate is the lead in the integration of library, technology and academic support services in a Learning Commons. The Director will provide innovative collaboration between these departments and promote student learning across these departments. Successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of essential student support services and administrative duties.  Duties and responsibilities include coordination and implementation of services for students with disabilities, a peer tutor program and training in the use of assistive technology.  The Director will also coordinate sessions designed to provide support for Accuplacer testing, and other admission tests.
