Saw this just now on LM_NET. Very sad! AND, this is the state that is
providing "guidance" to our Governor and Education Commissioner! Let's
hope this doesn't spread!

Liz

Our school board made their final decision this week and officially
decided to eliminate Media Specialists, Tech Specialists, and Literacy
Coaches across our district. They are creating a new position that is
supposed to be a combination of all three positions. All of us whose
positions were eliminated are welcome to apply to the pool for these new
positions or we can go back to a classroom position.

Our efforts to inform the School Board were all for naught. We provided
them with research, literally hundreds of pages; we went to the board
meetings and spoke, had students and parents speak on our behalf, our state
organization got involved yet the board chose to support the
Superintendent's plan which, they even acknowledged, had no research behind
it indicating that it would succeed.

Our Superintendent is elected here and has never been a teacher, nor worked
in a school of any kind but because he is a good politician he was elected
to run our schools. What's wrong with THIS picture?

Ah ... I see the screw up fairy has paid us a visit.
