I'd be interested to know about this also.

Limerick is just starting the process of developing a town charter also.

Quoting "Kelly Brooks, Orrington Librarian" <[log in to unmask]>:

Hello fellow librarians,

I am looking for some information. My town (Orrington) is currently
updating the town charter. It has been a year long process.

They have now come to the part in  the charter, where the library
department is listed. They are recommending to take it out.

They said other Maine libraries are not in town charters, I disagree
and feel that today, more than ever we should stay in the charter.

Are there libraries out there in the charter? Wish they were? Or the
opposite- happy not being in the charter?

If you don’t mind sending any wording you may have (if you are in
the charter)

I should state we are a municipal town library.

Thank you everyone for your support.
