As Erik pointed out, there is a difference between ³athletic scholarships²
and ³scholarships to athletes². Though D-3 does not give the former, they
most certainly do the latter. Athletes get all sorts of scholarship aid,
and though Canadians would add to geographical diversity, any form of
discretionary scholarship money can go towards athletes. Financial aid,
which is normally defined as need based, can also go to athletes. So the
pool of money to which all students, including student-athletes, are
eligible for is quite broad.
