While we still have a couple of weeks left in the season, school is
still in session, and I've more-or-less got your attention :-), I'd like
to start you thinking on what things I or we might to improve HOCKEY-L
and HOCKEY-D. I can't say that I'll find time or even want to do any or
all of your suggestions, but I would like to hear from you. Positive or
negative criticisms are welcome, but beware that I'll probably suggest
that *you* do the work to get your suggestion started.

Please respond privately and NOT to the list! If some subjects need to
be discussed among the members, then I will let you know, sometime
DURING THE OFF-SEASON.

Here are a few of the areas I'd like to make progress on this summer to
better the lists:

- re-write the welcoming message ... it's a bit out of date and too long.

- Provide a periodic frequently asked questions (FAQ) posting. I've
collected a few list-etiquette messages from other lists and have
jotted down several things for inclusion. It should help to be able
to refer to something that has been around for a while rather than
sound/be so arbitrary on my complaints to posters. It should help get
a lot of information out also. This might also include directions on
obtaining files of general interest and searching the archives, but
  this would mean ...

- start a "filelist" for topics of general interest such as team rosters,
  composite schedules, FAQ, etc.

- enhance the software that puts HOCKEY-D together to enable rearranging
the postings (more easily) when a topic has several "Subject:" lines.

We'll see what gets done.

Yours in college hockey,

Wayne Smith
