Actually, I take this concept even farther than most.  I route for Eastern
hockey over Western.  I was routing hard for BU in last year's final game
simply because I didn't want to see another Western team win a championship.
IMHO, there are already too many championships west of New York State and the
fans out there are too arrogant about it :-).
 
Nothing gave me more pleasure than seeing Harvard knock off Minnesota in '89.
Why?  It sure wasn't because I was a big Crimson fan.  They were
1. An Eastern team.
2. An ECAC team.  (And when an ECAC team wins, it reflects well on the quality
of the conference)
3. Playing against a Western team.
 
I'll be pulling hard for both Clarkson and St. Lawrence even though I despise
SLU and could care less about the Knights under most circumstances. Failing
those two, my favor will lie with the Hockey East teams.  (Even though a part
of me would like to see Hockey East continue to be shut out of national
championships for the sake of inter-eastern rivalry.)
