I saw an article in the Star Tribune the other day that said that the 
Gophers clinched an automatic bid in the Regional Tournament because 
they were regular season champs.

I thought that was changed to conference TOURNAMENT champs get an 
automatic bid?  Or have they gone back to both again since the field is 
16?

I can't keep track of all of this.  A clarification would be good.
