Canada defeated Russia 5-2 in a penalty filled game (21 total) to remain
undefeated going into their final round robin game against Finland
tomorrow (9:45AM Pacific on TSN). A win or tie will put them in first
place which, ironically may "reward" them with a quarterfinal match with
the Czech Republic who have stumbled badly in the round robin portion of
the tournament. However, as the Russians know, the knock out phase is the
important portion.

All goals in this game were powerplay goals except the first, which was
scored by Canada's Stoll shorthanded, and the last scored by Kobasew to
ice the game while the teams tried to cope with remembering what skating
even strength is like.

This was a nasty game with lots of niggling stuff punctuated by the
Russians falling down if you looked at them funny. Hamhuis was injured on
a play into the boards, no report on the extent yet.

The US game is just underway but one can expect they will easily handle
Belarus.
